Valentine’s Day Musings

Chocolate-covered strawberries somehow tasted sweeter

sharing them with my mother

in the coziness of her apartment

just days after she was released from the hospital.

Watching my four-and-three-quarters granddaughter

intently focused on making special Valentine’s cards

for her mommy and daddy

and of course beloved “GG” (aka great-grandmother)

reminded me of the start of my own lifelong love affair

with crayons, magic markers, and all things glittery.

These days, I create art supply boxes filled with glue sticks,

sequins, and stickers

that enhance our time together.

Love manifests itself in so many ways

including self-compassion and self-love,

which is the magical scaffolding upon which

everything else can soar.

I’m sending you strength and love.

Soaringwords is the power to heal.

Lisa
