In honor of Nurse Appreciation Week, Soaringwords celebrates the nurses who show up every day with skill, compassion, and unwavering commitment—especially the thousands of nurse partners in skilled nursing communities who bring the SOARING Into Positive Wellbeing Workshop Initiative to life and serve residents with dignity and empathy.

Our gratitude is rooted in a long history of collaboration. From 2000 to 2020, Soaringwords worked alongside extraordinary nurses and Child Life Directors in 196 hospitals worldwide, delivering expressive arts programs to children and families when they needed it most.

The spirit of this work traces back to Florence Nightingale—a pioneer whose courage and innovation reshaped healthcare. During the Crimean War, she identified the devastating impact of poor hygiene and introduced practices like handwashing, clean bedding, and proper nutrition—reducing mortality rates from 47% to 2%. Known as “The Lady with the Lamp,” her legacy continues to illuminate the profession through the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care and the enduring values captured in the Nightingale Pledge.

Today’s nurses carry that light forward—bringing warmth, expertise, and person-centered care into every room they enter.

Soaringwords salutes the nurses who make healing possible, every single day.
