Know when to accelerate and when to rest

When a project launch timeline starts to be measured in days instead of months or weeks, it’s thrilling and daunting at the same time. It’s the moment when everyone on the entire launch team puts on their running shoes to get out of the starting gate and actually make it happen in order to transform the concept into a successful reality.

As we get closer to launching the SOARING Into Positive Wellbeing workshop series in the U.S. and in Israel, it’s amazing how many mission-critical pieces are simultaneously falling into place.

Being a nimble and geographically diverse team, we’re working across three time zones in the U.S., our web-development team is in the Ukraine, empirical researchers are in Australia, and our newest collaboration partners are in Israel. With shared enthusiasm and dedication, it feels as if we’re master artisans coming together to create an enduring healing intervention that is so needed—especially now.

It may sound counterintuitive but, when you’re running on all cylinders, that’s actually when it’s essential to lean into self-care to balance the pressure of delivering a high performance. I’m flying back to New York City after seven days in Miami. Even though work did not stop, I knew I needed a change of scenery after spending the past three weeks onboarding hundreds of employees at long-term care facilities. During each Zoom session, I always held my breath until the last person shared their questions, concerns, and feedback. The response was unanimously positive and I found myself getting a bit teary eyed with joy and humility. It’s affirming when you’ve worked on an initiative for 15 months and then start to hear your enthusiastic collaboration partners gushing about how it’s enhancing their wellbeing and how excited they are to be able to share it with the people they serve.

While in Miami, I was rejuvenated watching the palm trees sway in the breeze. When I go away, I always supplement my routine morning swim with a yummy afternoon swim at 5 p.m. to extend the day a bit longer. Even when I’m rocking it out on Zooms for a few hours each day, (have laptop, will work anywhere), I know that the change of scene has broadened my perspective. It’s as invigorating as watching the syncopated flight of birds in the expansive sky.

What are you stretching towards and what goals make your heart soar? And what will you do to nourish and nurture yourself along the way?

I’m sending you strength and love.

Soaringwords is the power to heal.
