The Hologram of Life

Life is about showing up. I just enjoyed a 48-hour visit to Toronto to celebrate a family wedding—my husband and I joined my niece and nephew as they celebrated their oldest daughter’s marriage. As the couple stood under their wedding canopy, waves of nostalgia cascaded through my mind as I remembered dozens of meaningful celebrations.

A wedding ceremony is a hologram of life, encapsulating the complete spectrum of emotions and time. Being fully present in the moment enables us to take in a sensory feast of music, beautiful blessings, rituals that have endured for centuries, and the joy of celebrating in community. Reminiscing enables us to remember and appreciate peak emotional moments from our past. Anticipatory savoring allows us to envision and hope for a life of abundant health and joy for the two individuals who have decided to share their lives with each other. And then there’s the dancing—and plenty of delicious food!

Life invites us to be present, to treasure our memories, and to look forward to the future with hope. Most of all, it reminds us to keep showing up—for ourselves, for one another, and for the moments that make the journey worthwhile.

As we move closer to summer, it’s a wonderful time to rejuvenate and recharge as we pause to appreciate each day with gratitude and joy. Life is not a dress rehearsal. Let’s show up and enjoy the ride.

I’m sending you strength and love.

Soaringwords is the power to heal.
